Fun & Fearless Fitness

Taking the fear out of fitness...

Joining a fitness class should never be scary.

Fitness should become a part of our daily routine because it’s fun, we love the activity, we are inspired by the instructor, and we enjoy the people we work out with.

We should look forward to the opportunity to work out and de-stress at the end of a long day, not dread it.

At Scary Bunny, our classes are created with all ages and fitness levels in mind.

Whether you are 40 plus and new to fitness, or an active ager, we want you to feel successful, strong and empowered when you leave any one of our workouts. Scary Bunny is a community of fit and happy people that are enjoying life to the fullest because we can!

Indoor fitness classes are currently being delivered online, via Zoom. Nordic Walking classes continue outdoors all year round and follow the most current and recommended AHS safety protocols.

Kettlebell classes will move outdoors in May and continue outdoors through the spring/summer/fall season.  They will be delivered via Zoom in wet weather.

Kettlebell Fitness Training

Experience the feeling of empowerment that comes from a strong mind and a strong body with Kettlebell training!

Kettlebell classes are held at:

Cambrian Heights Community Association

600 Northmount Drive NW • Calgary AB

Our bodies were designed to move. From the time we are born, our bodies learn to crawl, walk, run, kick, hop and jump. Our daily lives require us to squat, turn, twist, pull, push, and lift. So often we focus our fitness routine on cardio training alone. We forget that we need to also train our bodies for longevity and injury prevention by working on our strength, coordination, balance, reaction time and flexibility skills.

Swinging a kettlebell (or two!) will not only increase your heart rate without any impact on your joints, but it will also train your body to be stronger and more confident. By incorporating martial arts motion into the workout, we also improve our flexibility, mobility, and reaction time.

Think personal training in a group fitness environment. This workout is all about YOU! YOUR fitness level today, YOUR individual fitness goals, and YOUR personal physical considerations. All fitness levels welcome.

Yoga mat and kettlebell (or weight), bare feet or workout shoes.  Most students begin their training journey with a 10lb (4kg) kettlebell. They average in price around $2.00+ per lb.

Let’s FACE it Together™ (LFIT) Facial Exercise

Improve facial expression, confidence, and fight the signs of aging in a natural way!

Most people will spend time and money going to a fitness class to work on strengthening the muscles in their body, but few people spend time strengthening the muscles in their face and neck. Just as the muscles in our arms and legs will strengthen when we embark on a fitness program, the muscles in our face and neck will strengthen and tighten when we exercise them.

Let’s FACE It Together™ program can also be used to rehabilitate and restore muscle function in the face. Research shows that people who have suffered facial muscle trauma have been able to regain facial movements by increasing their facial muscle strength. Those affected by Parkinson’s disease, strokes, and many muscular degenerative diseases can keep their facial muscles functioning to their best ability when adding facial exercises into their daily routines.

You can’t help but laugh as you experience all the funny faces we make during this half hour class.  All you need to bring to this class is your sense of humour!

Nordic Walking

Move your body, boost your mood, and enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds us, all year round!

“Private, semi-private and group lessons available.”

Nordic Walking is a year-round activity that is not only a ton of fun to experience, but it also takes us out into nature, giving us the opportunity to enjoy all the amazing pathway systems that Calgary has to offer.

Nordic Walking burns up to 46% more calories than standard walking, activates the core and sculpts arms and shoulders. In fact, Nordic walking uses 90 percent of your muscles—especially those underused upper body muscles and contributes to great posture and improved balance. The smooth rhythmic action of walking presents a distraction from everyday concerns and lifts your mood. It is also a terrific way to stay active with all members of the family, young and old alike. It is an all-in-one energizing, mood boosting, cardio and muscle building fitness activity for all ages and abilities.

Learn the benefits of walking with Nordic Walking fitness poles, the differences between fitness poles and hiking poles, and how to set their height to obtain optimal results when walking with them. We will then take them to the street and learn the “plant, push, and propel” technique that makes this activity such a great full body, cardio workout.

All fitness levels welcome! Nordic walking poles are provided for use in class and are sanitized prior to use.

Contact me for more information on our upcoming classes or to arrange a private, semi-private lesson. Private and semi-private classes (60 minutes) are ideal for people who prefer to learn at their own pace and at a time and location that’s most convenient for them.

Nordic Walking and Strength Fusion

Sometimes, we bunnies like to get outside and get back to our roots!

City or urban pathway, Nordic walking is a great, all season way to do that, but imagine the benefits of your outdoor adventure if you added some upper and lower body strength and core conditioning exercises also!

Move your fitness class outdoors and work out in Mother Nature’s playground!

Everything is right there for your use and enjoyment. We incorporate trees, park benches, playground equipment, hills, and steps with our own body weight to increase the benefits of Nordic walking even further.

Calgary has such an amazing pathway system! Explore the beauty and health benefits that they provide with our 4-week course.

Week one begins our journey with a 60-minute Nordic walking clinic. We will discuss the benefits of walking with Nordic Walking fitness poles, the differences between fitness poles and hiking poles, and how to set their height to obtain optimal results when walking with them. We will then take them to the street and learn the “plant, push, and propel” technique that makes this activity such a great full body, cardio workout.

The following three weeks build on the skills learned in the clinic and include upper body, lower body, and core strength training moves fused with agility, mobility, and flexibility activities.

All fitness levels welcome! Nordic walking poles are provided for use in class and are sanitized prior to use. Grab your workout buddies or come make new ones!
